Default value vs. prefill

A default gives a field a starting value, but a prefill or deep-link value takes priority over it.

Default value vs. prefill

Each field’s settings include a Default value: a fixed starting value that the person filling the form can change. Every field type can have one.

This is a separate setting from prefill. When a field has both, the prefill wins, so the default won’t appear.

Order of precedence

When more than one value could fill a field, Air Fill uses the first one it finds, in this order:

  1. Deep-link value
  2. Prefill value
  3. Default value

So a field with both a default and a prefill will show the prefill, not the default.
