Building a form

Choose which records people can pick to edit

When your form edits records, the Record picker controls which records people can choose from.

Where to find it

When a form’s mode is set to Edits records, the form editor’s Build list shows a Record picker section. This is where you decide which records people can choose to edit.

The settings

Records from

Choose Whole table or a specific Airtable view. The default is the whole table. A view brings its own filter and sort, so the picker follows what that view already shows. (Free.)

Second line

Choose which field appears as the second line under each record, so people can tell similarly-named records apart. The default, Automatic, picks the first meaningful field. (Free.)

Filter records

Add a condition to narrow the pickable records further. It applies on top of any chosen view. (A Pro feature.)

The scope is a starting point

What you set here is where the picker opens. The person editing can still switch the view, and the sort, while they choose.

At fill time the picker is titled Choose a record and includes a Search records box. When a view is active, it shows From view: [name].
