See the running total while you’re still filling the form. A calculated field does its own math from the answers you’ve already given, updating the moment anything changes, and the number settles in front of you as you go. Picture an order form: you enter a few quantities and prices, and the total keeps pace, adjusting with every edit so it’s right by the time you reach the end.
The field works from your other answers plus any fixed values you set. For numbers it combines them with +, −, ×, and ÷; for text it joins fields together with bits of wording you add. It stays read-only while you fill, so it only ever shows the result. Fill an Airtable form the usual way and you enter those numbers without seeing where they land. Air Fill puts the figure on screen as you type, so the number you submit is the number you meant. It’s part of Pro.
The Airtable pain this solves
- Airtable’s forms are too basic Native Airtable forms cover the essentials and stop there.
- You can’t see a calculated value until after you save Airtable’s formula and rollup fields compute server-side and are read-only, so a form can never show a running total or calculated value while someone is filling it in.
